A student at heart, I attended elementary school in Texas and was a fan from the beginning. School helped boost my self-confidence, and learning has always been important to me. I moved to Arizona in the sixth grade and attended Emerson Elementary, Carson Jr. High, and Westwood High School (all three are Mesa schools). Academics were always a top priority for me, and I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age.
I graduated from Arizona State University with honors in 2005 and was employed as a sixth grade teacher for Mesa Public Schools immediately thereafter. I have been teaching for fifteen years, and I could not be more excited to be teaching seventh and eighth grade honors English at Mesa Academy!
I have two boys. Andrew is in eleventh grade at Westwood, and Nathan is starting his sophomore year at ASU. I absolutely love teaching. I learn new things every day, sometimes from the curriculum and other times in response to student curiosity. I try every day to remind students that learning is essential to happiness, and that it can be fun, too.
