Math club is an opportunity for interested students to prepare for various math competitions held throughout the year. We will look at non-traditional problems, using a variety of methods to solve them. The Math Club is mainly for students in 6th through 8th grades; however, 5th graders are welcome to join us for first semester! In case you didn't know, you can be in math club even if you don't like competitions!
The first meeting is held the third Friday of August.
Club members will meet every Friday before school at 7:10a in room 12.
No experience is needed -- just a sense of humor and a willingness to try to solve challenging problems.
Last year, our team completed in the AMC-8, CGCC's Excellence in Mathematics and MATHCOUNTS competitions, winning local, regional, state and national awards!
The club is open to all 6th,7th,and 8th grade students who want to participate in math competitions or just learn more about problem solving. Meetings start in August and run until December. Only contest participants meet from January through March and then it opens back up to everyone in April.
