Biography

My name is Veronica Betance-Sandoval and I have been in the eduation field for over 20 years. Before coming to Mesa Public Schools I taught Spanish in Gilbert, AZ and in Texas. Mesa Public Schools is home for me.  I graduated from Red Mtn. High School and taught there for 10 years, including my student teaching in 1997. For the past 5 years I was  the World Languages Content Specialist for Mesa Public Schools. Prior to my time as a content specialist I taught here, at Mesa Academy, so you can say I am back.

I earned my B.A. in Ed. from the University of AZ and my M.Ed. from AZ State University. Spanish is my first language. I am proud to be a Mesa Public Schools graduate, teacher, and parent.  I strive to make World Languages in Mesa an excellent program where students use languages to communicate and become lifelong language learners.  It is never too late to learn languages.

Our goal for World Languages in Mesa Public Schools is to increase language performance opportunities in all modes of communication in order to reach high proficiency levels. This will also be my goal for our students of Spanish at Mesa Academy. I follow teaching methods and philosophies adopted by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages as well as the IB Language Objectives and Criteria for the MYP years 1-3.

Please contact me if you have any questions.  I look forward to working with you and building biliterate students.
