As a graduate from Mesa Public Schools, this district has a place in my heart. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2013, earning a Bachelor's in K-8 education with a Secondary English Immersion endorsement. I was a student teacher at Adams Elementary before becoming an official member of the Mesa family. Since then, I have taken part of various aspects within the education field including: AVID summer institute, training in the new science and social studies standards, partnered with other educators around the state to develop model units for grade 6 science, former student council advisor, recently earned a Google Educator certification, and in the process of earning a TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Part of my duty is to create a safe, engaging learning space where students can nurture their talents while providing a motivating environment. One of the greatest joys lies in making a difference with my students every day. Much of my teaching is represented in my own interests whether it be dressing up as someone from the time period in which we are studying or organizing units which not only are standards aligned, but are relevant to my students' interests. As an educator I believe it is my duty to seek new, challenging ways to teach and apply them effectively. This is demonstrated within the numerous professional developments I have attended, and have been fortunate enough to have been offered.
Here at Kerr I will be teaching science and social studies. My aspiration is to help your child discover their talents, whatever they may be. I will take time to learn about your child as an individual and work with them based on their learning styles and needs so they can experience growth and see how much they can accomplish. I hope to get to know you as well! I would love to hear from you whether you simply want to check in or discuss something specific. Together, we can help your child have a successful and enjoyable year!
