Hello! My name is Cathy Woodall, and the preschool children call me "Miss Cathy." I've lived in Arizona almost my entire life, since I was 5 years old. I earned my degree in Elementary Education from ASU, and later got an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, and Sheltered English Immersion. My first teaching job was in 6th Grade in 1975. After staying home a few years when my children were young, I returned to teaching, and I've now taught First Grade, Kindergarten, Family Literacy, and Preschool in Mesa Public Schools for over 24 years!
My husband and I have been married for 42 years, and we have three adult children and six grandchildren. We love spending time with our family, and on weekends we enjoy going to our cabin.
I love teaching 3, 4, and 5 year olds. This is such a fun age, and a very important time in children's development. The first five years of life comprise the most rapid period in brain growth, and the way we engage with children during those early years affects the physical structure of the brain, shaping the capabilities they will have for the rest of their life! It is an honor and privilege for me to be able to spend time with your precious child during such an important developmental period. I enjoy helping them learn to be independent, make friends, carry on conversations, follow routines, as well as facilitating their learning of pre-kindergarten academic skills.
