I grew up in Michigan and graduated from Imlay City High School in 1993. I began playing trumpet in the 5th grade and by the 7th grade, I knew I wanted to go to college to become a musician and teacher. I continued my education at Central Michigan University and graduated with a bachelors degree in Music Education. I completed my student teaching in Lapeer, Michigan. I moved out to Arizona shortly after and began teaching Elementary Band and General Music in Globe.
I came to the valley in 1999 and began teaching Band and General Music for Mesa Public Schools. Our district has an incredibly strong music program and I am proud to be part of it. I love having the opportunity to spread the love of music to so many students.
Since this time I have received my Masters in Music Education from Arizona State University.
Outside of school, I love to play tennis and an occasional video game with my husband. I am very proud to have achieved one of my life long goals because of him. I have always wanted to play the National Anthem on my trumpet at a professional baseball game. In 2004, I had that opportunity. My husband contacted the Arizona Diamondbacks and arranged for me to play. It was an incredible experience, and to top it off, at the end of the song, he came onto the field where I was standing and proposed!
We have one son, Timothy, and 2 cats, Peanuts and Chester.
We also love to travel. We visit my family in Michigan every summer and try to get to one of my favorite places in the world, our family cabin in Ontario, Canada. It is very peaceful and I can spend every moment of my time there doing my absolute favorite hobby, fishing.
