Biography

An Arizona native,  Mr. Felton graduated from ASU in 1978 with a Bachelors of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education.  He began teaching in the Fall of 1978 in Tempe, Arizona.  He earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education in 1992.  Mr. Felton taught junior high and elementary students full time until retiring in 2008.  He currently teaches elementary orchestra part time here at Brinton.   An active educator/conductor throughout Arizona, Mr. Felton has been the Associate Music Director of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony since its inception in 1982.  He has been a guest conductor of honor orchestras throughout the state of Arizona, including Tucson, Scottsdale, Glendale, Tempe and Northern Arizona.  Mr. Felton promotes the use of Old-time country fiddling in his curricullabsum.  Students love the energy and fun connected with learning to fiddle!

Being officially retired, Mr. Felton spends his retired days on the beaches in Cholla Bay near Rocky Point or the tall pines of Lakeside enjoying fishing, boating, off-road adventures, hiking, camping and two 100 pound Labrador Retrievers.
