About Mr. Zaur
This is my nineteenth year of teaching instrumental music. My first year was 2001. During these nineteen years, I have instructed instrumental music at the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. I have also taught computer classes with an emphasis on music production and editing.
I hold an undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in instrumental music education and a master's degree from Northern Arizona University in educational technology.
My time outside of the school day is filled with my children's activities (3 girls and 1 boy). My weekdays and weekends are consumed with sports for my children. All of them are active in soccer (I coach two of teams) in a recreational league or club league.
In the past, I have performed with the Arizona Wind Symphony as the principal alto saxophonist. I have also been the principal bass clarinetist or section clarinet. I first joined this ensemble in 1999 or 2000 (I really don't recall!) as a clarinetist, bass clarinetist, and then saxophonist. The 2019-2020 performance season is the first season I will not be performing with AWS since I joined.
Arizona Wind Symphony concerts occur during the week at the Tempe Center for the Arts. It is important that every musician takes time to attend other concerts so we understand what music is out there and also how our own performing compares to others.
