 WORK BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION:

I graduated from ASU with a BS in Business Management and Administration.  I worked in the Aerospace Industry for six years, several as a financial analyst.  I left work to be a stay-at-home mom.  While raising my children I discovered my love for teaching.   I earned my teaching certificate from Rio Salado College.  I taught first, fourth and sixth grades at Ishikawa for five years, and sixth grade math at Barbara Bush for eight years. This is my second year teaching art.  I absolutely love it!  Art incorporates all our core subjects: Math, History, English, and Science in a visual, tactile and less-stress environment.  I have been a "hobby artist" all of my life.  I grew up the daughter of a ceramics teacher and have been doing it since I was little. I have taken private art lessons and and college art classes.  The medium I love best is painting with acrylics, but I continue to take art classes in other mediums such as glassblowing, stained glass and fused glass. I look forward to teaching students art concepts in different mediums and towards another wonderful year full of diverse, fun and informative learning.

I grew up in New Jersey, and have been married to my husband, Brian, for 34 years. All of my children attended Mesa Public Schools and graduated from Red Mountain High.  My oldest daughter, Castille, graduated from the Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, majoring in Costume Technology and German.  She is now working in Las Vegas as a fitter for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group.  My son, Remington is 26, attending SCC, and is majoring in music production.   My youngest, Gabrielle, is 22 and is taking classes at MCC, the is thelead singer of the local band "Constellations", and plays guitar in the band Diva Bleach.
My past-times include painting, glass arts, cycling, reading, gardening, and movie watching.

Since I will be at four different schools on varying days this year, if you need to contact me, please email me at laritter@mpsaz.org.  I look forward to getting to know your children, and showing them the amazing influence art can have in their lives.
