Ms. Geiss is a life long lover of art. She grew up in Kansas City and was greatly influenced by the amazing art community and culture. Her best friend's father is a potter and painter. He was, and still is, her motivation for being an artist and teaching art to others. Ms. Geiss received her B.S.Ed Art Education (K-12) from Missouri State University in 1994. She immediately moved to Arizona. Though she did not directly start teaching in a school district, she has many years of experience teaching art through private lessons, summer camps, after-school camps, workshop and bringing art to home-schooled students. Ms. Geiss is thrilled to be teaching elementary art at Entz, Irving, Stevenson, Pomeroy and Mendoza. The enthusiasm of her students is uplifting, highly motivational and truly captures why she teaches art!
Ms. Geiss is a sculptural welder, using recycled metal and old car parts to create unique works. She also enjoysworking in clay and painting with acrylics. Ms. Geiss has many hobbies including backyard farming. She enjoys growing as much of her family's food as possible. She is also a chicken keeper and strong supporter of backyard chickens! You can also find her teaching the community about the benefits of raising chickens. Her chickens often find their way into her artwork, too. Her 13 year old son is equally enthusiastic about the chickens and is very helpful. Ms. Geiss' family also includes 2 cats and 2 dogs.
