Biography

Hi! I am an art teacher at Summit Academy for grades 4-8, and I also teach 7th grade Computer Essentials.  I have been teaching in Mesa School District for over 20 years. I moved here in 1996 after teaching elementary art for two years in my home state of Delaware.

I received my B.F.A. degree from the University of Delaware in 1988, and I later completed my art education courses at Delaware State University. My most recent academic accomplishment was completing a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Instructional Media at Arizona State University in December of 2008.

I love teaching art! The elementary students attend my art classes every other week. If I am lucky, I get to see each class 17 or 18 times a year.  During each lesson, the students learn about one or more art elements and principles while experimenting with a variety of art materials and techniques. The Jr. High students who take my Introduction to Art course and General Art course attend class with me daily during the semester. We are working on many exciting projects!

If you would like to see some examples of student artwork, click on the links in the upper left corner of this page. I plan to update these links soon, so keep checking back.
