7th & 8th Grade - American History:

  • Classzone- Main website for the book used in American History. (no password needed) Choose the chapter you would like to study.
    • Look at the animated history to get an illustrated description.
    • Choose from a variety of maps and resources.
    • Take an interactive review: the quizes allows you two chances for each question and gives you an explanation for the correct answer (excellent to print out & use as a study guide), or go to the games and activities to access flip cards and cross word puzzles, also available is online graphic organizers and study notes!
    • Access research and writing tools: notetaking wizard, web research guide, writing models, and links to websites containing additional information and materials on the chapter or subject your studying.

  • A complete online version of the book is available. Note: A student account is required to gain access to the text book, (you will need the ISBN number located on the back of your book) once the account is setup you will just have to sign in each time you visit.
    • The online book gives you tools which allows you to highlight and write notes directly on the text, search for a keyword or topic, and glossary. You also have the ability to listen to the text read to you, (the words are not highlighted with this option) click on the speaker (if you don't hear anything; right click, go to settings and select "allow").
    • A PDF version of the book is also available, by choosing the "Accessible version" (tab is at the top of the window). Any part can be copied and pasted into any text-to-speech program (Most of which will highlight as they read to make it easier to follow along).

9th Grade - World History - SS21:

  • Classzone- main web site for the book used in World History class, World History , Patterns of Interaction. (no password needed) Choose the chapter you would like to study.
    • Try using the flip cards to practice the important terms from each chapter
    • Do the online crossword puzzle for even more practice
    • Take the online chapter quiz. It’s multiple choice, and when you click on the “submit answers” button it will grade it and give you an explanation for each answer, right or wrong. You can print this to study from, and you can take the quiz as many times as you’d like. The quiz can be copied and pasted into any text-to-speech program. No one but you will know your score.
To listen to whole sections of the book, you can ask your teacher to borrow the computer CD. Each page of the book is on the CD. If you need help learning how to do this or installing the free software you will need, ask your resource teacher for help.
• Any part can be copied and pasted into any text-to-speech program (Most of which will highlight as they read to make it easier to follow along).
• The pages of the book are done in Adobe Acrobat. If you are using version 7, you can also listen to it right from Acrobat reader, without having to copy and paste. Just type shift, control, and V all at the same time to hear the page read to you. [Note: use control +K to adjust the voice, or to make other adjustments like the size and color of the text.] The text is not highlighted when you do it this way.
