Counting & Number Order:

  • Number Train - counting to 10; good audio feedback
  • 123 Order - ordering numbers to 10, both at the end of a sequence (ie.,4,5_ what comes next?) and, later in the game, in the beginning and middle (3,_,5); good audio feedback.
  • Count Your Chickens - counting sets to 10, with good visual and auditory correction feature.
  • What Can I Do On Computer? - access a large list of online activities by clicking on the "math" link.

Math Calculations :

  • Discoveryschool - answer word problems correctly and you will be allowed through the gates of Thebes by the great Sphinx.
  • SpaceyMath - an archade-style game to practice the facts in any of the 4 operations.
  • Math Baseball - practice problems in all 4 operations and several levels of difficulty (including some that may require scratch paper) in a baseball-style game. One or two players.
  • Power Football - practice problems in all 4 operations and several levels of difficulty (including some that require scratch paper) in a football-style game.
  • A+ Flashcards - onscreen flashcards of the 4 operations plus square roots and rounding.
  • A+ Games - play Bingo, concentration, or find a hidden picture to practice math facts.
  • All About Addition - all manner of addition activities, from adding sets less than ten to adding money, roman numerals, mixed numbers and estimating.
  • BasketMath Interactive - choose from a list which includes addition, word problems, and order of operations (to name a few). Solve each problem as it appears on the screen. An animated basketball player makes a basket each time a problem is solved correctly. Easy to use with a wide variety of levels to choose from! (available in English and Spanish)
  • Times Table Practice - six stages of practice activities with quizes
  • MathBlox- Great arcade-style game for addition, subtraction and
    multiplication practice. Choose from several levels within each operation. Note: If asked to register, choose "maybe later" to move to the activity.
  • Leon Math Dojo- Choose between counting, adding, subtraction, multiplication, division and more. Fun math practice with a "kick"! Note: If asked to register, choose "maybe later" to move to the activity.
  • Leon Math Movies- Answer the math calculations correctly to move Leon through his top secret assignment and solve the mystery! Choose a movie setting, then choose a math operation and level. Note: If asked to register, choose "maybe later" to move to the activity

Algebra:

  • Operation Order - put three numbers in correct order to come up with the correct sum. The "hard" level uses multiplication and division, so it requires knowledge of order of operations.
  • BasketMath Interactive - choose from a list which includes addition, word problems, and order of operations (to name a few). Solve each problem as it appears on the screen.   • Billy Bug - great beginning practice for graphing coordinates.
  • All about Equations - practice with beginning algebra concepts.
  • The Maths File Game - 12 different math games covering number sense, data handling, shapes, measurement and algebra.
  • Ken White's Coin Flipping Page - an activity which demonstrates the probability of heads/tails coming up while tossing coins.
  • Math.com - four different units ranging from algebra basics to graphing inequalities. Each unit has a quiz at the end.

Fractions and Decimals:

  • Equivalent Fraction Activities new link- Four activities to help you compare and find, equivalent fractions
    using bar graphs and pie charts.
  • Fractions, Decimals and Precentages new link- Three activities, using bar graphs to help you compare
    fractions to percentages, fractions to decimals, or percentages to decimals.
  • Fraction Frenzy! - matching equivalent fractions (one reduced, one not) in a timed game.
  • Fresh Baked Fractions - finding eqivalent fractions. 4 levels of difficulty.
  • Place Value Puzzler - four levels of difficulty indentifying place value or rounding to 5 places (at hardest level) on either side of the decimal.
  • All About Decimals - a wide range of practice with decimals, from reading decimals to the tenth to converting fractions and decimals.
  • All About Naming Numbers - reading number words, including decimals and ordinals.
  • Visual Fractions - lots of fraction activities, including writing fractions, converting mixed to improper numbers, and adding fractions.
  • The Maths File Game - 12 different math games covering number sense, data handling, shapes, measurement and algebra.
  • All About Comparing - comparing and ordering numbers in all ranges of difficulty, from comparing sets less than 10 to comparing scientific notation, decimals, fractions and metric measures.
  • Math.com - choose a topic from the bar to the left to practice place value, rounding, and estimating.- there are several explanation screens, followed by online practice (with a "hint" button)

Other:
  • Funschool - use the "search" to select the subject and difficulty level. Subjects include math, reading and vocabulary, geography, history and science. Math includes counting, odd & even integers, percentages, fractions, facts and place value.
  • Wazzu Widgets - Widgets are small, self-contained instructional activities or "Learning Objects." Widgets run on PC or Macintosh computers as either Macromedia Director Runtime or Shockwave files. Each widget teaches a specific concept and can be used in a variety of educational settings.
  • Figure This - practical "real world" applications of math operations and estimation. Includes hints, and a detailed description of the solution.
  • Beach Fun with Otty - identifying shapes and completing simple puzzles.
  • Put it on the Shelf - match the shapes to the outline.
  • Banana Hunt - given an angle, the user positions the ray to match the angle. The user is then rewarded points depending on the degree of error. A great visual exercise for teaching angles!
  • Invention at Play - choose from three tangram puzzles to assemble. Provides practice in recognizing and manipulating patterns.
  • Math.com - site covers many math subjects such as algebra, calculus, percents and more! Also available are calculators and tools, practice activities and homework help.
  • NCTM Illuminations - a site full of interactive math resources. Select a link according to level (pre-k to 12th grade) and standard being addressed.
  • Tessellations - Tutorials and templates for making your own tessellations.
  • PBS Cyberchase - choose from various math activities and levels.
  • Glencoe Mathematics - geometry quizzes organized by subject

Telling Time
:

  • Just In Time - lesson plans and activities for calendars and telling time.
  • Teaching Time - online exercises and printable worksheets in both analog and digital.

  • Make a Calendar -interactive calendar for the current month. Activity goes over the days of the week, what date and day it is, and fill in the missing date.

Money and Personal Finance:
  • Money Workbench new link- Realistic-looking images of coins and bills are used. Students can discover equivalents by "grouping" and "breaking" coins and bills into equivalent groups. There is also a section to practice adding and subtracting money, with images of coins and bills next to the numeric problem. Note: If asked to register, choose "maybe later" to skip directly to the activity.
  • $pending $pree - Pick an item that you would like to buy. Then choose the correct amount of coins you need to pay for the item. Ten questions with pictures of real coins.
  • Banking on Our Future -Learn about banking basics, savings and checking accounts, budgeting, credit and investing on this interactive site. Free site after registration (each user needs to register, site keeps track of the completion of each section). Levels: Elementary & Middle School. High School & Adult to be coming soon.
  • Reality Check- An interactive site which gives the user a glimpse of adult financial responsibilities. After choosing a career, the user budgets their income to pay for rent, groceries, etc. The site also gives the user an idea of what schooling is needed to attain a certain career or financial independence.
  • Practical Money Skills for Life - click on the "games" link at the top of the page to access activities for budgeting, saving and spending. Site also includes links to lesson plans and tips for parents.
  • What Can I Do On Computer? - access many links to money activities by clicking on the "money" link.
  • Money Instructor - Free site after registration, with great online activities for recognizing and counting money, check writing and, other banking and personal finance skills.

Junior and Senior High Resources - Information for Math homework help, including the telephone hotline and cable assistance. Also offers links to publisher websites that provide examples and demonstrations for each chapter of your text. Note: There are several useful features for each grade, that don't require a password to access.
