Science:

  • Try Science - take virtual science field trips and try science experiments online!
  • Funschool - use the "search" to select the subject and difficulty level. Subjects include math, reading, geography, history and science. Science includes matching symbols to chemical elements and animal classification.
  • FirstGov for Kids - Learn about rockets, weather, the human body, outer space, science fair projects ideas and much more.
  • Zoobooks - choose from the levels hard, challenging and impossible. Use the mouse to click on a portion of a picture and then try to guess what type of animal it is. Once the user guesses, more links come up which tell about the animal.
  • Animal Universe- choose from many habitats, learn about animals as you drag them into their enviroment. Earn collectable "cards" as you complete each level. Note: When asked to register, choose "maybe later" to continue to the activity.
  • Animal Inquiry- this site provides 4 different prompted organizers- guiding students through the process of writing a paper about an animal. Prompts include facts, babies, habitats, etc.
  • BBC Science - Habitats - find 8 different living things that live in the woodland area, then learn about their habitat, eating habits, and more by clicking on the icons provided. Once you complete the activity, take the online quiz to test
    your knowledge. Great auditory and visual supports. Grades 3-4
  • BBC Science - Solids and Liquids - heat and cool 5 different substances, such as chocolate, butter, or an aluminum can, and compare how they react to temperature. Once you complete the activity, take the online quiz to test your knowledge. Great auditory and visual supports. Grades 3-4

Social Studies:
  • Scholastic: If You Were President - Assume the role of the President and make important decisions such as chosing a cabinet and balancing the budget.
  • Building a Sod House - the user answers a series of questions about building a house of sod on the prairie in the late 1800's. With each answer, an explanation is given as to how the settlers built these homes. Helpful graphics and easy to understand explanations.
  • America on the Move - three separate activities which help develop a better understanding of how our country has changed over time and how transportation has impacted our society.
  • Bio-Cube - a nifty way to generate a report on a person. Students are prompted for important information to include, like dates, a quote, and significance in history. It prints to be cut and folded into a cube.
  • Timeline - online creation of a timeline with units as date, time, event, or other Entries on the timeline become links for attaching notes about the event. Prints horizonatally or vertically with notes appended to the bottom of the page. Nice tool for demonstrating knowledge of a sequence of historical events or the order of action in a scientific process.

Geography:

  • Play with Kids - geography and puzzles- choose from many map/geography activities for Asia, Australia, North America, and more! (varying levels) Note: Java or Macromedia Flash plug-in may be required. A link to free download provided with activities.
  • North America Countries Find - Differentiate between countries such as Panama, Mexico, Canada, USA, and more by clicking on the puzzle when prompted by the animated explorer. Note: Macromedia Flash plug-in required. A link to free download provided on page.
  • North America Jigsaw Puzzle - Drag the pieces to their correct place in the map of North America! Note: Macromedia Flash plug-in required. A link to free download provided on page.
  • USA Jigsaw Puzzle - Drag the pieces to their correct place in the map of The United States! Note: Macromedia Flash plug-in required. A link to free download provided on page.
  • Label Maps - Choose a region and label maps that contain states, countries, or physical features. Great vocabulary and map skills practice. Note: When asked to register, choose "maybe later" to continue to the activity.
