Computer Modifications for Various Disabilities:

  • Microsoft Accessibility - Microsoft’s step-by-step tutorials for configuring and using their built-in supports for various disabilities in Windows XP and Vista operation systems.

  • Apple Accessibility - Apple’s list of built-in accommodations for various disabilities for their Macs running the OS X operating system (although many of these features are available on OS 9 and lower, too).

Functional Websites for Sensory Disabilities:

Hearing Impairment

  • Harkle - closed captioned web videos, including CNN daily news clips. Also includes a zip code-based search of captioned movies playing in local theatres.

  • American Sign Language Browser - an online American Sign Language dictionary with QuickTime movies of each word being signed (requires Quicktime player, click here for the free download).

Visual Impairment

  • iZoom - a free web-based screen magnifier and some screen reading support , also cursor locator support.

  • Philip's Large Colored Cursors - downloadable high contrast, animated, and larger cursors.
