BIOGRAPHY

I am very excited to serve our Mesa community as the Director of Opportunity and Achievement.  Our department goal is to increase student opportunity while at the same time supporting student achievement. Prior to taking this position, II spent eleven years as an English teacher, AVID teacher, and AVID Coordinator at Mesa High School, an AVID National Demonstration School.  I also served four years as the AVID District Director for Mesa. My journey with Mesa Public Schools began long ago as an elementary student at Sirrine Elementary. I then went on to enjoy three great years at Hendrix Junior High and eventually graduated from Dobson High School in 1999.

I  hold an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University. Areas of my educational focus are in AVID methodologies, gifted education, bilingual education, educational technology, literature, and folklore.

I look forward to many great years in Mesa.
