Biography

Mr. Murphy is a 1991 graduate of the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education .

After student teaching at Mesa H.S. in the Fall of 1990, Mr. Murphy moved to the Valley to begin his teaching career.  He was hired in 1992 at Powell Jr. H.S. where his assgnment included teaching band and beginning guitar.  In the Spring of 2002 he added a Steel Pan program to the music curriculum.

Mr. Murphy moved to Brimhall Jr. H.S. in 2007 where he is currently the Director of Bands and Music Department Chair.  In addition to his teaching duties at Brimhall, he is the band director at Franklin South Elementary and Jefferson Elementary.

 Mr. Murphy is also the principal BBb Tuba with the Salt River Brass Band, now in its 20th season.  This season is his 9th with the group which performs six  regular season concerts at the Chandler Center for the Arts.
