Parents

Research has shown that parents are the most important people in a child’s life.  When your expectations are high and your attitude about school is good, your child will do very well.  To help, have a place to do homework, a time to do homework, and see that homework gets done and returned to school.   It is also important to check over all homework and graded papers.  Please work with your child to fix errors on homework and graded papers.  Ask your child about school daily.  If you ever have any questions on how to help your child or ideas for areas of improvement, don’t hesitate to contact me and together we can brainstorm possibilities.

Homeworkbackpack

Homework is an important part of your child’s learning program.  Routinely, homework assignments will be given as a reinforcement of skills.  Your child will receive a weekly homework packet.  This packet will be given to each student on Monday and will be due that Friday.  I feel a packet allows freedom for busy families to set up a homework schedule conducive to their schedule. At the bottom of the homework cover sheet is a place for you to sign.  Please sign ONLY after checking your child’s homework with him/her for neatness, accuracy and completion.  Do not sign the paper if homework has not been completed. Please take a few minutes to review daily with your child, check to make sure the homework is being done, and your child is doing his/her nightly reading.  Homework not only reinforces skills, but helps children learn responsibility.  Consequences will be strictly enforced on late homework.  Your child will miss morning recess until all homework is completed.

Progress Reports

In your child’s homework folder on Fridays, you will receive a weekly progress report, all graded work and other school correspondence.  If your child receives a “Fair” or “Needs Improvement” please make sure to discuss his/her choices and what he/she can do to make better choices next week   Then, please carefully look through the folder, go over graded work with your child and empty the folder.  Please make sure you sign the progress report and send it back to school on Monday in your child’s homework folder.

cakeBirthdays

Birthday are an important time for the children and I want to make it a special day for them.  Due to limited time, we are not able to have individual parties, but if you wish, you may send a treat for the class.  Due to district health guidelines, please make sure any treats are store bought.  Also, check with me ahead of time for the number of children in our class and to arrange a time for the treats to be delivered.  If your child has a summer birthday and you would like to provide them a chance to celebrate, we will have a “Summer Birthday Party” in May.
