Welcome! I will be teaching fantastic fourth graders at Brinton Elementary this coming 2016-2017 school year. I love being part of the Brinton Bears Team and I'm excited for another new school year. This will be my thirteenth year teaching, and I have experience working with K-8th graders. I am a native Arizonan and a proud product of Mesa Public Schools. I attended Benjamin Franklin Elementary, Mesa Junior High and then graduated from Mesa High School. I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education from ASU. I also have an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, a Reading endorsement, and am completing my M.A. in Educational Leadership through NAU.
As an elementary student I set a goal to become a teacher, and through hard work I achieved that goal. I believe that setting goals is important for success and can be measured by the effort made when striving to reach those goals. I encourage my students to set short and long term goals both in the classroom and in life and to work hard toward achieving those goals. I love teaching and learning with my students. I believe that every student has unique experiences, knowledge and valuable insights to share with each other. Our class learns best when we learn together and together everyone achieves more.
I believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit and I encourage my students to become life long learners. I am continually learning and working to become a better teacher by participating in professional development workshops, seminars, and conferences, reading professional literature and books, pursuing higher education, and taking an active role in leadership positions.
I believe that all students can learn when provided with a positive, caring learning environment, support and high expectations from parents and teachers, and the motivation to always do their best. Please feel free to contact me by phone, email, or in person. My classroom is always open and parents are always welcome.
