The Angel Tree is a continued tradition
here at Barbara Bush Elementary. Our nurse, Peggy Jones came up
with the idea to help the families in need at Christmas time. The
purpose of Angel Tree is to provide Christmas gifts and food baskets
for families at Barbara Bush Elementary. A tree is placed in the
office so Bush families and staff members can participate by choosing
an Angel Tree ornament with a selected item to purchase.
Many different groups get involved in helping with Angel Tree. The
Girl Scout Troop 1338 made stockings and stuffed them full with
goodies.
Brownie
Troop 657 chose to help purchase gifts for our families. Student Council
sponsored the can food and sock drive.
We have increased to helping 14 families this year. Families may
ask for toys, food, or other household items that they may not be
able to afford for their loved ones. Once, a family donated a whole
bed set, all for a little child that had nothing to sleep on.
On Teacher's Work Day, the principal
and teachers deliver the gifts and food that our community donated.
Way to go Bobcats !
