Pre - K

With Kindergarten classes being full day, it is more critical than ever for your Preschooler to be enrolled in a program that will give them a good head start! Pre-K through Community Education is a great way to expose your child to a safe school environment, work on developmental skills, pre-reading skills and language development.
To enroll for Fall 2012, your child must be at least 3 1/2 years old by June 1, 2012. Our program focuses on acquisition of developmental skills like cutting, pasting, coloring, listening and following simple sequential directions, recognizing and writing name, patterns, counting, recognition of shapes and colors, phonemic awareness and pre-reading. We also work on large and small motor skills including balancing and hopping on one foot, running, and skipping, and fine motor skills such as holding a pencil or crayon correctly, drawing and writing.
These skills are taught through games, song and dance, creative drama and creative arts projects. Most importantly, your child will have FUN while learning and acquiring these skills!
Our class is held 4 days per week (MTThF) from 8:35-11:35 am. Our class uses the kindergarten playground, and we enjoy time at the Media Center. The program offers the children a great introduction to the school as well as preparation for social and developmental and skills associated with Kindergarten.
To register for this program, call the Community Education Department at 472-7257 and tell them you want to sign up for the Pre-K program at Bush Elementary. There is also a 3 day a week option available upon request. Our schedule is the same as the rest of the school. We start in August and end in May. Call and reserve your child’s spot in our Pre-K class today!
