Welcome back to school! We hope you have all had a restful Winter Break and are ready to get started on a spectacular second semester! First things first – Parent/Teacher Conferences will start on January 13th through January 17th, and school will be released at 1:45 PM for the entire week. Civil Rights Day falls on January 20th, and there is no school on that day. Kindergarten Registration commences on January 27th, and the one and only Evening Registration day is January 28th, at 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Important stuff! So let’s all put our Thinking Caps back on and make this semester a great one!
Here at last! December! To start the fun we have a Book Fair starting December 2nd and ending on December 6th, in the Media Center, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM. On the morning of the last day of the Fair, you may want to prepare for shopping by visiting the Cafeteria at 7:20 AM for our PJs With the Principal get together. Don’t miss the brilliant Band Concert on December 3rd at 6:00 PM. Student Council will be having a Bake Sale on December 6th at lunchtime. Come have some fun and see the 3rd Grade Holiday Hoedown on December 10th in the Multi-Purpose Room at 6:30 PM. You may also wish to come hear the lovely strains of music as the Orchestra presents their concert on December 17th at 6:00 PM. On December 20th, the last day of school before the Winter Break, our spectacular spellers will have a Spelling Bee in the Multi-Purpose Room at 9:00 AM (Who will win this year?), and the Montessori will have a Celebration of Peace at 11:45 AM. Be prepared for an Extra Early Release on that day at 12:15 PM! Have a joyous Winter Break, and don’t forget to come back to school on January 3rd!
Who will get to Kiss the Pig at the Bush Carnival on November 15th? You can help decide, just bring your change to put into your favorite teacher’s jar at the Kiss the Pig Coin Drive! It starts on November 1st and ends on the 14th. On November 6th there is an Early Release at 12:45, and there is No School Veteran’s Day, Monday the 11th,! The Bush PTO will be having a meeting on Tuesday, the 19th of November in the Media Center. Come join the fun at the annual Turkey Trot on November the 26th! After that there are three big days off to celebrate Thanksgiving – November 27th – 29th. Have a wonderful, family fun filled Thanksgiving!
September is looking like a lot of fun! Of course there is no school on Labor Day, September 2nd. The Cookie Dough fundraiser is in full swing – the order forms are due on the 9th so get busy and ask everyone you know to participate. There will be a Pool Party on the 9th at Stapley Junior High School from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. On September 18th the kiddos have an Early Release at 12:45. Next is Picture Day – bring your best smiles – that’s on the 19th. Our sixth graders will be learning all about how cities work at JA Biztown on the 27th. So, welcome back to school, we’re in for another stellar year here at Barbara Bush Elementary!
The first week of school has come and gone and it was great!! Next week on August 12, the Acadience testing and the Gifted and Talented testing begins. The Montessori Parent Night comes on the next evening, Tuesday, August 13 at 5:30 PM. All the parents of 6th graders should be here for the 6th Grade Math Parent Night on August 15th at 5:00 PM. Then the annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser starts on the 22nd, and be sure to put Curriculum Night on your calendar - mark August 27th at 5:00 PM.
