On Friday, January 28 the sixth graders in Mr. Roche's class transformed their classroom into the Poetry Cafe.  Visitors were seated at numbered tables covered with checkered tablecloths.  Student servers dressed in white aprons brought juice and healthy snacks to tables for the audience to enjoy during the poetry readings.  Students took turns at the microphone performing one or two of their wonderful, original poems.

These poems were submitted and 18 student poets were accepted for publication in the Creative Communications Spring 2005 Poetry Contest.
As a result, Barbara Bush Elementary School has received the
Poetic Achievement Award
Only a small percent of schools are honored with this award.
