A Beautiful Beginning......
We have had a beautiful beginning to our Montessori Preschool year here at the Jordan Center for Early Childhood Education! I want to thank all of the families for placing their children in our classroom. We are building an amazing Montessori Community of Learners!
The children are enjoying getting to know each other and are genuinely excited to greet each other every morning upon arrival. It is a joy to watch their friendship evolve with enthusiasm!
This month we are spending time talking about and practicing and modeling Grace and Courtesy in our classroom. The children are moving about the classroom with quiet purposeful intention while discovering all of the many works on our shelves! Quiet voices and moving their bodies slowly is our tag line this month. They are becoming aware of each other and the space around their own bodies. We have noticed a decrease in the number of "body bumping" occurring as the weeks have passed! Children of this age are learning that the space around them is a "shared" space. We are learning how to serve ourselves our own snack, while taking care of cleaning up our space to make ready for the next friend who may choose their snack time.
We have started our studies in the area of Culture with the Continent of Africa, the children who live there, the biomes with the land and water forms on the continent. The children are making their own maps of Africa on Hemisphere maps in class.
Today we made a Labor Day project of our national bird, the Bald Eagle. It was an adorable time of painting with children. I hope you all enjoyed receiving the projects at the end of the school day today to adorn your homes for our National holiday celebration this coming Monday.
Upcoming in September:
