Biography

Welcome to fourth grade. This year, our focus is on increasing academic rigor, improving student independence, and providing challenging learning opportunities for our students. I look forward to collaborating with our students as they develop multiple strategies for solving mathematical problems. They will also be expressing themselves through writing informational text, opinion essays, and narratives. We will use our reading, social studies and science lessons to help shape our writing topics this year.

I have enjoyed being an elementary teacher for 31 years and have taught grades Pre- K through 6th. I have also been a reading specialist and a reading coach for teachers.  I love to teach students how to read and to introduce them to the world of literature.  My experience has been in both the primary grades and the upper grades. This will be my 5th year in the Mesa School District. I started my career in Chula Vista, California. I graduated from Point Loma University in San Diego, CA.  I have a Master's Degree along with certification as a reading specialist and an ELL (English Language Learner) teacher. I moved to Arizona and taught 22 years in Page, on the Northern AZ border, near the Navajo Reservation. Lake Powell is located in that little town and is a beautiful vacation destination. It is one of my favorite places to camp.

I have two grown children that live in Arizona and I really enjoy spending time with them. My family loves going to the mountains and exploring on off road vehicles. We laugh a lot and play card games when we are together. I also enjoy hiking and traveling to see new places.

Teaching is my passion and I look forward to sharing the learning experience with your child this year!
