Titanic

Titanic
  •     The Titanic was called the unsinkable ship and the White Star. It launched on May 31, 1911.

Where did it happen?
  •     The Titanic sank in the northern Atlantic ocean.

When did it happen?
  • It sunk in April 14-15, 1912. It started sinking at 11:40 P.M. and sunk at 2:20A.M.

How/Why did it happen?
  •     The steamer sank because it struck an iceberg going at 27 knots.

What were the damages?
  • The iceberg left a hole in the ship leaving it to sink. 700 hundred people survived and 1,500 died with the ship.

Could this disaster have been avoided?
  •    Our opinion is that the iceberg COULD have been avoided because they could have watched better and listened to the radio hearings more closely.

What has happened since the disaster?
  •      Robert D. Ballard discovered the sunken ship in the Atlantic Ocean. It remains at the bottom of the ocean.

  • Workers got $10.00 a week to build the ship.
  • The last survivor died in Massachusetts  at age 99.
  • First class cost $4,350. Which is $50,000 today!
