When did it happen?
  • It sunk 95 years ago, on the night of April 14th 1912 , and the day of April 15. They ship hit the iceberg at 11:40 at night. The Titanic started sinking a little after that.

Why did it sink?
  • The Titanic sank because the steel became weak from the cold North Atlantic ocean and fractured easily during the iceberg collision. It finally broke in half after awhile.

What were the damages?
  • The Titanic held 2,200 passengers including the crew. During the sinking of the ship 1,517 died while 705 survived. The Titanic was capable of having 37 lifeboats but only held 20. The British liner “The Carpathia”  was the first to arrive and rescue .
7
Could this disaster have been avoided?
  •  Yes, because, if they went slower they could of stopped or turned around the ship sooner.
  • No, because the metal was brittle because the water was to cold for the ship
8
What has happened since the disaster?
  • Robert D. Ballard found the Titanic in 1985, and the Titanic is still in the Atlantic Ocean because  Robert Ballard thought it was right to keep the ship in its burial place.
