Young Authors' Week 2006-2007
October 31-November 4
We celebrated Young Authors Week with an annual writing contest, writing with buddy classrooms, and visits with 3 guest writers.

On Tuesday, sports writer Mark Lincir spoke with 5th and 6th graders.
Mr. Lincir writes for 90 Minutes Soccer Magazine
and for the Fox Soccer Channel (FC Fox on Fridays at 7:30 p.m.).

On Wednesday, author and illustrator Jillian Lund visited from Colorado.
We have all enjoyed her Southwest-themed picture books, "Two Cool Coyotes," "Way Out West Lives A Coyote Named Frank" and "Have You Ever Seen A Jackalope?"
Ms. Lund created 5 original illustrations while she spoke with Bush students.
Her artwork is on display at the Media Center.

On Thursday we welcomed Mary Amato from Washington D.C.
She is the author of "The Word Eater" which won the Grand Canyon Reader Award.
Her other books include "Snarf Attack, Underfoodle & The Secret of Life: The Riot Brothers Tell All", "Drooling & Dangerous: The Riot Brothers Return", "The Naked Mole Rate Letters" and "Please Write In This Book." For more information about these great books visit her website at www.maryamato.com or come visit the Bush library.
