We celebrated Young
Authors Week with an annual writing contest, writing with buddy
classrooms, and visits with 3 guest writers.
On Tuesday, sports writer Mark
Lincir spoke with 5th and 6th graders.
Mr. Lincir writes for 90
Minutes Soccer Magazine and for the Fox Soccer Channel ( FC
Fox on Fridays at 7:30 p.m.).
On Wednesday, author and illustrator Jillian
Lund visited from Colorado.
We have all enjoyed her Southwest-themed picture books, "Two
Cool Coyotes," "Way Out West Lives A Coyote Named Frank"
and "Have You Ever Seen A Jackalope?"
Ms. Lund created 5 original illustrations while she spoke with Bush
students.
Her artwork is on display at the Media Center.
On Thursday we welcomed Mary
Amato from Washington D.C.
She is the author of "The Word Eater" which won the Grand
Canyon Reader Award.
Her other books include "Snarf Attack, Underfoodle & The Secret
of Life: The Riot Brothers Tell All", "Drooling & Dangerous: The
Riot Brothers Return", "The Naked Mole Rate Letters" and "Please
