SKYLINE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
The Skyline High School Guidance and Counseling program is built upon a model called Comprehensive Competency Based Guidance (CCBG). This model has been adopted by the American School Counselor Association, The Arizona School Counselor Association, and Mesa Public Schools. CCBG is developmental and requires the counseling department to systematically provide all students with experiences to help them gain competencies to meet their personal, social, educational, and career needs.

Normal hours of operation for the Skyline Counseling Department are
7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days.

  CAREER CENTER
The Skyline Guidance and Counseling Department is extremely fortunate to have an extensive Career Center and a full time Career Specialist. The Career Center and Career Specialist provide a myriad of resources and opportunities to Skyline High School. The Career Center has information on careers, scholarships, colleges, technical schools, the military, testing (ACT, SAT, ASSET, ASVAB), and resumes. During the year representatives from colleges, technical schools, businesses, and the military are available in the career center. The Career Specialist schedules ASSET and ASVAB testing on campus. Through a program called Mesa Youth Placement (MYP), the Career Specialist helps students find jobs in the community. Career speakers are scheduled periodically throughout the year. A Scholarship Bulletin and a Success Bulletin are published each month (you can access these bulletins on line through a link on this web site). The career center also keeps a career portfolio on each student that contains many of the items generated by our classroom counseling presentations.

SKYLINE SUCCESS BULLETIN
The Skyline Success Bulletin is published once a month and contains information from the counseling department that all students should be aware of. Career presentations, testing information, job opportunities, upcoming visits from college, technical school, and military representatives, financial aide, informational websites, and other informational topics are found in this bulletin. The Success Bulletin is available in the Career Center, counseling lobby, and our webpage.

SKYLINE SCHOLARSHIP BULLETIN
The Skyline $cholarship Bulletin is published each month by MPS and the Skyline Career Specialist. Scholarships for seniors, juniors, and sophomores are listed along with a brief description of each scholarship. Applications for these scholarships are available in the career center. The Scholarship Bulletin is available in the Career Center, counseling lobby, and our webpage.
