“Equipment List”

Each player should a have a specific gear bag exclusively for the soccer season. Many times, when the players use the bag for purposes other than just soccer, the player will leave vital equipment at home, school or the bus.

Parent’s, please help your child get in the habit getting their equipment bags ready THE NIGHT BEFORE any scheduled event; game or practice. Also, plan ahead and know when a meal maybe needed between the end of school and before a game. Please help your child come prepared to play.

Each player’s gear bag should contain the following equipment:

Shoes:

Soccer cleats are a necessity. They are not required by any rule, but it is actually safer playing in them and will improve the quality of your child’s play and enjoyment. For this piece of equipment, the price and style ranges are too immense to discuss here. Call with questions. WARNING: DO NOT USE Softball spikes. (They actually hurt the feet through the process of a soccer game.) Athletes should also have tennis shoes available everyday for days we meet in the weight room or inside gym courts. Shin Guards:

A requirement. All players must have these for all practices and games (it is a rule). They will not be allowed to play without them. The array of available sizes and styles is endless. Spend money according to your level of play and the number of years you plan on playing. Look for ones that slide over the bottom of the foot like a sock and have ankle guards. About $25 to $35 is a good price range.

Shorts/Shirts:

All players must wear a white t-shirt (printing is okay) or sweatshirt with dark colored shorts everyday for practice.

Socks:

Full-length socks MUST be worn over the shin guards at all times. Each girl will be issued white socks with green stripes for games only. Girls must supply their own socks for practice.

Weather appropriate clothing:

EVERYDAY – regardless of what the weatherman says. Pack for Cold, Hot, Dry, Wet, Windy, Calm and any other combination. Know that practice or games will take place, REGARDLESS OF WEATHER (accept for lighting).

Water Bottle:

Each player must have their own. (Please fill the water bottle up BEFORE getting on the bus for away games. Water is often NOT available at other fields.)

Misc:

Towel, Sunscreen, Insect Repellant, Spare Shoe Laces.

All equipment should be labeled with the player’s name, especially the gear bag.

AGAIN, please provide your child with a gear bag that is EXCLUSIVELY for the soccer gear during the course of the season.
