I have taught at Stapley since it opened fourteen years ago. I love working with seventh grade English students. I continue to expand my knowledge of how to help students learn and have recently completed the requirements for the English Language Learner Certification. I find the content of these classses apply to all students, not just English language learners and I incorporate these stratagies into the classroom.
Stapley has not been my only home. Prior to teaching at Stapley, I taught English at South Mountain High School for six years. Before that, I was a math and science teacher at Buckeye Elementary School. My first teaching experience was as a language arts and English teacher on the Dine Reservation.
Basically, I'm a home town girl. After attending Edison, Kino, and Westwood here in Mesa, I earned my BA in English at ASU.
On a more personal note, I have one son who is a Sophomore at Westwood. I love reading, almost anything, but especially Tolkien and Authorian based historical fiction. I was sad to see the Harry Potter series end, but I am looking forward to new releases by some other fine authors. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for books with my students.
I look forward to another great year here at Stapley. |
