Class Rules
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to the 2007-2008 school year. I am also pleased to introduce myself as your child's 8th grade American History teacher. I would like to take this opportunity to explain my classroom expectations to you.
Classroom Expectations:
1. Be prepared to work and learn when you enter the classroom.
2. Raise your hand to speak or leave your seat.
3. Show respect for the teacher, school and fellow students.
4. Adhere to all rules and expectations as described in the student handbook.
5. Please do not bring food, drinks or gum into the classroom.
Failure to follow these expectations will result in an appropriate disciplinary action. These consequences range from verbal warning, parent/guardian contact, detentions and finally administrative referral.
Academic Expectations
My academic expectations for this school year are that your child will learn learn and develop all skills and standard created by the Arizona Department of Education. Throughout the school year, your child’s growth will be assessed by projects, bellwork questions, tests and quizzes. Each assignment will be graded on a consistent and fair grading policy.
Grading Policy:
A = 100 - 90
B = 89.99 - 80
C = 79.99 - 70
D = 69.99 - 60
F = 59.99 and below
Make-up Work:
When students are absent it is their responsibility to check the missing work binr to find out what notes or assignments they missed and copy the information on their calendar. The student has as many days as he/she was absent to make up the missing work. Students that ditch classes with unexcused absences will not be given credit for absent work.
Late Work Policy:
There will be a 20% deduction for each day it is late.
In conclusion, I am looking forward to a successful school year with your child. In addition to the curriculum, my hope is that each student will learn the value of Truth, Trust, Respect and Responsibility. I encourage parent/guardian involvement and contact.
