My name is Paul Hogen, and welcome to my web site and biography.  I'd like to give you a little background about myself as a professional and a little about me personally.

The 2007-2008 school will mark my 30th year of teaching.  My teaching career started at Redbird Elementary School as an elementary p.e. teacher.  While teaching at Redbird, I also assisted coaching basketball at Dobson High School the first two years Dobson was open.

After four years at the elementary school, I moved to Rhodes Jr. High School, and was there for 12 years.  Throughout my years at Rhodes, I taught p.e. and social studies, summer school social studies, coached girls basketball and boys cross country, served as an interim assistant principal while ours was called up to Desert Storm, and was a summer school principal.

When Stapley Jr. High School opened, I transferred to Stapley, and have been here since.  At Stapley, I have taught 7th grade, 7th grade ELP, and 8th grade ELP social studies, served as the department chair for the social studies department, and also was the first basketball coach at Stapley, coaching for two years.

On to the personal stuff.  I grew up in Iowa, graduating from Mason City High School.  After high school, being a typical teen, I really didn't know in which direction I wanted to go.  I moved to Arizona for the summer, and back to Iowa for the winter, and like I mentioned, not really sure what I wanted to do.  Probably not too smart either considering my living choices and the seasons.  While in Iowa, I worked on the railroad and in construction, and definitely decided I wanted to be going to school.

After moving back to Arizona, I enrolled at ASU.  I played one year of basketball on the jv team at ASU, while majoring in physical education and acquiring over 30 credit hours in social studies.  I received my Masters Degree two years later, and continued with my education, getting my Administrative Certificate and Gifted Education Endorsement, and participating in Mesa's Administrative Training  Program.

My wife Judy and I have been married for over 20 years, and we have two daughters and one son in law, along with two dogs, two cats (anybody want one?), and tortoises.   In my spare time, I enjoying cycling, watching the Phoenix Suns, visiting major league baseball parks (18 so far, and Fenway is the best - the picture is the right field bleachers at Fenway) woodworking, reading, and traveling, with Maine being our favorite destination.
