GRADING POLICIES:
:Assignments are calculated on a point basis and then placed in category based on the type of assignment. Semester grades are an average of the two quarter grades. There will be five grade categories in this class: Test/Quizzes 25%, Product 25%, Class work 20%, Homework 20% and Organization 10%. The following grading scale will be used:
90 - 100% = A, 80 – 89% = B, 70 – 79%= C, 60 – 69% = D, 50 – 59% = F
EXTRA CREDIT:
Extra Credit work will only be offered if it has educational value to the class. It will be offered to the entire class. I will never offer extra credit on an individual basis. If you complete every assignment on time you will not fail.
CALENDARS:
Each week you will receive a calendar, which must be signed by your parent or guardian. This is a means of parent communication. Grades will be updated minimally every other Friday. Students will be required to look up their grade and write the percentage in the grade box on the weekly calendar. The grade will count for 5 additional bonus points on the calendar. The total calendar grade will be 10 points. The calendar may change, please make any needed corrections daily. It is due on Monday of each week. If you forget to bring it on Monday, it will be worth 5 pts on Tuesday (No late passes are accepted for calendars!).
LATE WORK:
Late work is not accepted. Late work is defined as any work that is not completed by the beginning of class on the day it is due. You will receive two coupons each quarter, which will allow you to turn in the assignment for full credit the following day. The coupon may be used for homework or for a major assignment.
** NOTE** Please use it for an extreme circumstance when an extracurricular activity or family commitment prevents you from getting an assignment done.
MAKEUP WORK:
Makeup work is any work that is not completed on time due to an excused absence from school. The assignments will be accepted for full credit for 5 days after you return. After that the assignments will be marked AB and worth zero points.
You are responsible for checking the assignment calendar and getting any handouts from the makeup work area. Read directions and consult two others for clarification of the assignment. If you need an extended amount of time please make arrangements with the teacher by having your parents call me.
If you suspect there may be a problem, questions or special concerns, please let me know. In order to take care of common issues the preferred method of contact is email, as there will not be any phone tag involved.
Sincerely,
Pamela Sarbo
