Sr. Gubernick

Stapley Junior High

2007-2008

Homework Policy

Homework is an essential component in the learning of a language. It serves as practice for new vocabulary and concepts presented during class. It also serves as a review the next when we discuss the assignment in class and is a means of determining mastery of material.  Students can expect to have a short homework assignment daily.

  • Assignments should be completed conscientiously and in their entirety at home before coming to class.
  • Homework assignments are worth between 2 and 10 points depending on the length and complexity.

Tests and Quizzes

  • Quizzes are generally given once a week usually on Fridays. They will always be announced. Point values will vary.
  • Tests are worth between 50 and 100 points and are given at the end of each chapter. They are always announced. ** Keep an eye on the class calendar for advanced announcements about tests**

Make up Policy

Make up work is your responsibility. The length of absence will determine the length of time you have to turn in an assignment. Check the assignment calendar for any missed assignments.

Grading Policy

Scale is based on total points possible: A= 90%, B= 80%, C= 70%, D= 60%. Your semester grade will consist of total points accumulated from tests, quizzes, homework, and participation.

Textbooks and Class Materials

The students will receive two textbooks for the class. Each student will be responsible for keeping the books clean and free of marks. Treat them well!

                Spanish 1-     Realidades 1 textbook
                                        Realidades 1 workbook
                 Spanish 2      Realidades 2 textbook
                                         Realidades 2 workbook

You will also be required to keep a section dedicated to Spanish in your three-ring binder for your notes, homework, and assignment calendar.

Classroom Rules

  • Be in your seat, with all materials, ready to work, when the bell rings.
  • Keep your behavior towards others positive.
  • Don’t talk while others are talking.
  • Leave cell phones and MP3 players turned off and out of sight..
