What are regular school hours?
The regular school day begins at 8:55am and ends at 4:10pm, which includes 7th Hour. School buildings open at 8:30am. Classes are about 50 minutes long, with 4 minute passing times.
What are the details of Student ID's? Activity Cards?

Carson students are required to wear a valid school ID on a lanyard around their neck at all times. The school will provide one for every student, free of charge. It is the student's responsibility to have it with him/her each day. They are used to check out library books and also required in order to attend school activities, including dances, field trips. Lost, defaced or destroyed ID's must be replaced at the student's expense ($5).

Optional student activity cards are available for purchase at the bookstore. They cost $12. The student activity card allows students to pay a reduced rate for selected special events. All athletic events will have a charge as follows: $2 for all adults, $1 for students with required ID card, FREE for students with an Activity Card. An Activity also entitles the student to a $1 discount for School Dances.

What about the cafeteria and lunches?
Lunch is $2.00 a day. Regular lunch, a la carte items, and a snack bar are all available choices. Lunch period is 30 minutes. Breakfast is now available for free. The Cafeteria Manager, Carmella Gallivan, can be contacted at 472 - 2923 or email her at crgalliv@mpsaz.org
What are Carson's Dress and Grooming Standards?
Personal appearance and dress are the responsibility of the student and the student's parent or guardian.  
Students may not dress or groom themselves in a manner that, in the judgment of the school administrator, presents a risk to the health, safety or general welfare of the student, other students or staff, or that is counterproductive to the district's educational objectives.

What is SIAC?
 
SIAC, the Site Improvement Advisory Council, serves as an advisory board to discuss school-wide issues with administrators, teachers and parents. SIAC meets in the Carson Media Center on the last Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. Meetings usually last 45 minutes.
What classes are required in junior high school? Which classes are electives?
 
Required classes are: English, Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Physical Education. Electives include: Art, Music, Industrial Technology, Keyboarding, Spanish, French, and Family & Consumer Sciences.
When are progress reports sent home? When are report cards sent out?
 
Progress reports are generated halfway through the 9 week grading period. They are usually hand delivered by your student. Report cards are mailed.

What is Carson doing to provide a safe environment for our students?
We strive to provide a safe and secure learning environment for the students, staff, and support personnel, as well as, provide security for school property and physical facilities. Also, we seek to enchance student school attendance through the investigation, intervention, and enforcement of Arizona truancy laws. We have two campus security officers, a Mesa Police School Resource Officer (SRO) and a Positive Alternative to Gangs (PAG) advocate. They can be contacted through the school main office at 472-2910.
