Hello Carson Cougar Families! I am very excited to be here at Carson Jr High School this year! My job as the Title I School Improvement Specialist is to help students improve their academic skills by providing educational support to the principal and staff in the areas of curriculum and assessment. I support the teachers through Professional Development in Instructional Practices and strategies to support our students learning! I also coordinate Parent Involvement through meetings, Family Nights and Family Engagement Events. We value parental involvement, we need to all work together to help our children succeed! Take an important role in your child's education at school, let your voice and ideas be heard and join our School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC).
I have been in education since 2004 and teaching for the past ten years. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University, I started my career as a teacher with Mesa Public Schools at Adams Elementary. I left the district to teach at my son's school in Gilbert, then came back to Mesa to be part of the refocus at Eisenhower Center for Innovation, where I have been since 2013.
Throughout my career I have enjoyed working with teachers and colleagues to develop curriculum and refine instructional practices that would best serve the needs of all students. I became a Certified District Trainer in Tribes Professional Learning Communities and have facilitated professional development trainings for teachers in building respectful relationships with students and actively engaging students in meaningful learning.
This will be my second year as the Title I Specialist here at Carson Jr High School, where I have the opportunity to support the wonderful faculty. I look forward to continuing to build relationships with the community and with all of the staff and students here at Carson Jr. High School.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have regarding our Title 1 program, testing, or the curriculum and instruction.
