I was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in Boise, Idaho. After high school graduation, I chose to delay my formal education so I could go to the South Pacific for two years doing volunteer work for my church. While in Tahiti, I decided that I wanted to make a career in teaching. In 1980, I moved to Arizona and completed two degrees at the University of Arizona.
I began teaching junior high math and evening GED classes in the mining town of San Manuel. Wanting my children to have more educational opportunities, I moved my family to Mesa, where they graduated from Dobson High School and Hamilton High school.
I have taught for nearly 30 years in Chandler, focusing on 5th - 8th grade math. A few years ago, I earned a second master’s degree with an emphasis in curriculum and technology.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy many hobbies with my wife, Cindy, including hiking, cycling, and scuba diving.
For me, teaching has been a dream job. And now... I am extremely excited to join the Carson Cougars family as a math interventionist!
