Community Education's Pre-kindergarten 2008-2009 classes will meet for 32 weeks, 1-1/2 or 2 hours each day -- three or four days each week. This program is geared to prepare your child for Kindergarten in one year or two, depending on the age of your child.
Fall classes will begin September 2, 2008. Children should be 3-1/2 years old by September 1, 2008 (we are flexible).
The Pre-kindergarten program has two major goals: the acquisition of developmental skills (cutting, pasting, tracing, coloring, listening and following directions), and the assessment of academic skills (counting, number sets, name recognition & writing, color, shape, and letter recognition).
Our curriculum also includes: science experiments, manipulation and creative art projects, music and creative drama, large and small muscle coordination and an opportunity to spend time individually with children on specific needs. Small and large group activities are also planned as part of the day. A minimum of 17 children must enroll in order for this program to be placed at a school site.
