2.  Proposed 2017-2018 Budget
The Board authorized the proposed budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year totaling $563,963,157 on June 27, 2017. Per state statute, the proposed budget was advertised online by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) and the District.

Action on the 2017-2018 budget will take place in the regular meeting, which follows the public hearing.

3.  Hearing on the State 1.06% Teacher Salary Increase
Per State statute, the Board must hold a public hearing regarding the allocation of the 1.06% increase. Teachers must also be notified of all public hearings regarding the 1.06% increase.

Dr. Holmes reviewed the requirements established by the state auditor general. Teachers must have taught in a public school or charter school during the 2016-2017 school year. Only the portion of the teacher’s salary coded to Function 1000 (instruction) is eligible for the 1.06% increase. The increase is based on the teacher’s eligible salary from the 2016-2017 school year. Communication will be sent in the fall to all teachers regarding eligibility and calculated amounts. A one-time stipend will be paid in December as no definitive plans have been adopted by the state legislature to fund this beyond the 2018-2019 school year.

Mr. David Lane, CTE teacher, and Ms. Laura Routsong, teacher, commented on this item.
