Biography

Welcome to the Crismon Elementary Reading Intervention Lab. My main roll is to focus on assessing  primary and intermediate students who are struggling with reading and then to work with these students in our lab and in the classrooms. Strong, repetitive instruction is needed to aid in their reading growth along with help in applying decoding skills as they read. Our reading lab does just this with instruction on a daily basis. Everyone in our lab cares deeply about reading and helping the students become successful with their grade-level materials.

I am originally a Buckeye from Ohio, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree and taught for two years. I came to Mesa Public Schools in 1973 where I taught grades 1, 2, and 3 for 35 years at Jordan Elementary School.  My own children are products of the Mesa Public Schools and my daughter is now a teacher in Arkansas. I earned an English as a Second Language Endorsement and taught the ESL students here at Crismon for two years. I earned my Reading Endorsement and this is my seventh year in a Reading Intervention Lab.  I love what I do and I hope to make a difference in the students I work with. I believe all students can learn and I want to be there to help them reach their highest reading potential.  If you ever have questions for me, please feel free to contact me.
