Welcome to the GUS program.  We are here to help your child develop some new skills to help them be successful at school and in life!  With your help we will make great progress and your child will Grow Up Successfully!

Let me tell you a little about myself and how I came to be a teacher in the GUS program.  I graduated from ASU in 1984 with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.   At that time I moved to Las Vegas and taught in both a Learning Disabilities classroom and in a classroom for students with emotional disabilities.  After three years in Vegas I moved back to Mesa where I taught in a Learning Disabilities classroom until 1999 at Pomeroy Elementary School.  During that time I completed my Masters Degree in Education from NAU.  In 1999 I had my first child and spent the next nine years at home with my kids being a mom 24/7.  I have two amazing kids!  They are both on the cusp of adulthood now, and I can't believe how quickly the time has flown.

After a number of years at home with my kids, I missed working in the classroom and returned to teaching. I was fortunate to return to Pomeroy to step into this new position as a GUS teacher.  Several years ago our program was moved down the street to Crismon Elementary School where we reside today.  I am thrilled to be here working with students in the GUS program.  The GUS program is a wonderful addition to the services offered in MPS.  The GUS program can help students make wonderful changes to behavior patterns which got in the way of  success in a traditional classroom.  With your involvement and desire to help your child make these changes we will celebrate together when they exit the program and return to the general education classroom full time.

I am looking forward to working side by side with you and your child.  I am more than happy to meet with you so that we can encourage your child to grow in all areas and find their personal success path.
