Mr. Jeff La Rosa

I moved to Arizona with my wife and son in January of 1992 from Southern California. I am a proud graduate of Long Beach Polytechnic High School (home of other notable graduates Cameron Diaz, Tony Gwynn, and Snoop Dog). I attended California State University, Long Beach where I earned my B.A. and Teacher Certification. I received a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University.

I began teaching for MPS in 1993 at Mesa Vista High which later became Riverview. I remained there for eighteen years before happily moving to Crossroads this year (2011-2012). I am certified in both Art and English.

Currently, I am teaching two sections of art offering a wide range of courses from beginning drawing to painting with acrylics. I believe art is so much more than drawing and painting, and it is is a joy for me to be able to teach these courses to our Crossroads students. Art teaches students to be creative, problem solve, think critically, use teamwork, practice patience, and it builds self-confidence. Those are skills and practices that will carry over into other ares of students' academics as well as their lives in general. And it's fun!
