My teaching experience at Crossroads has been amazing! I have taught in the Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Mesa areas, completing my most recent years at Crossroads as the high school Individualized Instruction teacher. I attended Concordia College, Bronxville, NY and West Chester University, West Chester, PA where I received a BA in Social Welfare. I completed additional workshops in social work at the University of Pennsylvania.
When special needs students became my focus, I continued my education to receive a MA in Special Education from Chapman University, Orange, CA and became certified and highly qualified in the areas of the Specific Learning Disabled, the Emotionally Disabled, and the Intellectually Disabled. My other areas of certification include K-8 Elementary General Education, K-12 Standard Special Education, Middle School Language Arts, and an ESL endorsement.
Crossroads has proven to be a rewarding learning environment. As the Department Chair of Individualized Instruction for the Success and Focus Schools, I have developed an integrated program that accommodates our special needs students through our resource, pull-out, and inclusion models which align with the general education curriculum and the GradPoint computer program. Resource students also participate in art, EVIT, field trips for the arts and sciences, Student Council, and Service Learning.
I am dedicated to assisting our students in all areas of their academics while consulting with the general education teachers to provide accommodations and modifications that promote individualized student success. I have been fortunate to experience many successes with our students, and look forward to experiencing many more.
