This course
catalog contains the curriculum in the Mesa School District
grades 7-12 schools. As you examine the courses, note that each
subject area goal, essential skills (minimum learning skills
the student must accomplish in a subject area), for a given subject area are presented at the
beginning of each curriculum department.
The Mesa
School District curriculum provides an emphasis on the basic
skills needed by all students as well as an emphasis on higher
goals and opportunity for the many students able to achieve
beyond basic skills. The recognition of the specific skills
needed by all students is represented in the graduation requirements:
consistent attendance and the completion of the credits required
for graduation and appropriate levels of proficiency as measured by the AIMS tests. Mesa high schools also recognize excellence
through course offerings, standardized testing, demonstrated
skills and end-of-year awards and scholarships.
