Dobson Senior Kelli Brown Earns Prestigious Flinn Scholarship!

Dobson senior Kelli Brown has been awarded the prestigious Flinn Scholarship! 

The Flinn Scholarship Program, in partnership with Arizona’s three state universities, provides enriched educational offerings that expand a Scholar’s life and career options while creating the kind of stimulating, intellectually challenging environment that students might find at the nation’s most selective colleges.  Benefits include funding for two international study-abroad experiences, full tuition, room and board at one of Arizona's three state universities, and mentoring by top professors, researchers and entrepreneurs in the state.  The value of the scholarship, including the tuition provided by the universities, exceeds $115,000.

Dobson Academic Decathlon Team places at State Competition

On March 9th and 10th Dobson's Academic Decathlon team competed in their State competition at ASU West.

Marcela Hewitt earned a Silver medal in the Interview category and Michael Botchway earned a Bronze medal in Speech.

The team earned many top 5 places against the 39 other competing schools and as a team they scored 3rd overall in the Speech category.

Dobson AFJROTC visit to the State Capitol and AZ State Senator Warren Petersen

Dobson HS AFJROTC cadets met with AZ State Senator Warren Petersen during visit to the AZ State Capitol and Senate Building.  24 cadets participated in the event that included a tour of the Capitol Museum and  discussion on the history of the State as well as a presentation by the Senator on the specific workings of Arizona's legislature and tour of the Senate Chambers.

Dobson DECA Students Place at District Competition in January

Fourteen Dobson DECA students attended District Competition at ASU Polytechnic campus on Jan 18, 2018.

Congratulations to the following: (Team Events) Trevor Gelfan and Caitlin Parkes placed 2nd in Travel & Tourism, Deja Pierson and Javier Pena placed 2nd in Marketing Management, (Individual Events) Marco Lopez placed 3rd in Hotel and Lodging Management, and Deja Pierson was recognized for Top 10% in Marketing Exam.

Dobson's Advanced Choir Da Capo has another Outstanding Performance at the NAU Jazz & Madrigal Festival

Congratulations to Da Capo (Dobson's Advanced Chamber Choir) for another outstanding performance at the NAU Jazz and Madrigal Festival in Flagstaff February 9th & 10th.  Da Capo continues the legacy of excellence in vocal music by participating in this festival for the past 35 years, which is one of the largest in the country.  Once again Da Capo impressed the judges earning superior ratings in both the Jazz and Madrigal categories.  Students in Da Capo are also members of Cantus, the Advanced Concert Choir, and rehearse as an additional class during A period.  They perform throughout the Dobson community representing our school each year.

Congratulations Dobson Choir Students who Auditioned & Qualified for the 2018 Southwest Regional Honor Choir

Congratulations to all the Dobson students who went through the audition process for the Southwest Regional Honor Choir.  Students who audition must prepare a solo from a prescribed list as well as prepare for a sight singing test.  During the audition, they perform their solo for a judge as complete a sight singing test.  They compete against 9-12 grade students in the Southwest Region of Arizona. 

We are proud to announce that Dobson students Haley Reed, Karli Dieu, and Jessica Do were selected for the 2018 Southwest Regional Honor Choir.  They will now practice their music and come tougher with the other 97 students in the regional who were selected on February 16 and 17 to rehearse and perform a concert.  After that they will have earned the right to audition for the 2018 Arizona All-State Choir.  Good luck to Haley, Karli, and Jessica!  We are so proud of you for continuing the legacy of excellence in vocal music at Dobson!!
