Dear Parents, Guardians, and Student Athletes,
Welcome to the Dobson Mustang Volleyball Program for the 2010-2011 season. We are honored by the opportunity to work with your athlete during this volleyball campaign.
This handbook has been developed for the Dobson Mustang Volleyball Program in order to be an informative tool for the athletes as well as the parents. The handbook attempts to improve communication between the program and participants. Please take time to read the handbook carefully, as it will answer the majority of your questions about the season.
We anticipate an excellent season from the team. Parental support through encouraging academic excellence, practice attendance, healthy lifestyle choices, and positive attitudes conducive to team building is expected. The sport of volleyball is unique. Each player is dependent on other players to build a strong team. Each athlete’s role is crucial to the overall success of the team. We look forward to facilitating the opportunity for your athlete to display his talents. We thank the parents in advance for your positive support of our program. We appreciate the sacrifices that you make in order for your athlete to join the continual building of a program that strives to maintain a high level of class.
Our expectations are high. Choosing the easy road of tearing others down to lift one’s self up is not a part of our program. We will encourage each other so everyone is challenged to excel. Be the student-athlete that makes others around you play, look, and feel stronger. The team comes first; no one’s agenda or self-serving ambitions will be tolerated. You are a unique and important person; be the one who leads by example, words, and attitude.
Press Maravich said, “A dream is just a big goal you put on yourself.” We ask you to dream, then work to make that dream a reality. The choice is each individual’s. Take into account the other players’, managers’, fans’, high schools, and coaches sacrifices as you participate. We look forward to an outstanding year of volleyball as well as personal growth. A great season is obtainable.
It is hoped by reading the handbook, you will have a greater understanding of the policies, procedures, responsibilities, and goals under which we operate.
