Biography

Hello, my name is Ms. Amber Parker and this 2020-2021 school year will be my 8th year of teaching and my 8th year as a Dobson Mustang! I am excited to see what this new school year brings though I know times are interesting right now, to say the least! Starting off this new school year remotely, my plan/goal is to make learning as easy as possible for students to navigate while meaningful and sustaining. I look forward to building strong relationships with my students and teaching them meaningful content while increasing their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills

I was born and raised in Chandler, Arizona and I love living here because of the weather, beautiful scenery, and the marvelous landmarks/monuments that call Arizona home, too. I attended Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, AZ (Go Aztecs!); though my dad and aunt are Dobson High graduates of 1986 & 1987, so I feel right at home being a Dobson Mustang!

Ever since I can remember, my goal/dream was to always become a teacher and change students' lives, but peoples' lives in general. And I can say with certainty after eight years of teaching, that my love, drive, and passion for my students and the education profession is still very much alive in me and I LOVE what I do! I wouldn't change it for the world; teaching is my calling and where I'm meant to be in this journey called 'life'.

Once I was out of high school, I took that passion I had for teaching and continued my educational studies towards my teaching degree at Arizona State University. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education (English) with an SEI endorsement in 2013. Since my first year of teaching (2013-2014), I have continued my professional development, always striving to find new ways/techniques to help me become a highly effective teacher every day. In the next couple of years I plan on continuing that professional growth by obtaining my National Board Certification, which allows for me to be highly qualified in all 50 states and is about a two year process.
