Lt Col Brian Yates, USAF (Ret), is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) for Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) at Dobson HS. He entered the Air Force in 1985 and served as a career intelligence officer at the wing, Major Command, Unified and Combined Command, Joint Task Force, Air Staff and Defense Agency levels. He and his wife, the former Barbara Jackson, have two sons: Anthony and Devon. Lt Col Yates has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Technology from Arizona State University and a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Boston University. He has also completed numerous military leadership schools as well as the AFJROTC Instructor Course and the JROTC Marksmanship Instructor Course. He has taught AFJROTC since 2007 and holds an Advanced Instructor certificate. Significant awards and decorations from his military career include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with device, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with device.
