2020-2021 Remote Learning Bell Schedule

I grew up in the Midwest and I found my home in Arizona after spending some years living overseas. I attended high school & college in Northeast Ohio. During my time at Hiram College, I gained an interest in other cultures & languages while taking some short study abroad trips to Costa Rica, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.  I decided to major in Spanish after spending a semester in Segovia, Spain.

When I left Hiram, I moved to Kazakhstan. I served as a Peace Corps volunteer there for more than 2 years. While my primary job was teaching English as a Second Language to children in grades 3-11, I also worked closely with some local English teachers to help them to develop their teaching skills. The people there were warm & accommodating, and I spent my time there with host families. Every person I met was genuinely interested in my life and they wanted to learn everything they could about US culture. In return, they welcomed me into their culture & helped me to learn how to communicate with them in both Kazakh & Russian.

Shortly after completing my service in the Peace Corps, I moved to South Korea, where I taught English as a Second Language to students in an English language academy. In the 3 years that I spent in South Korea, I became a fan of K-Pop music, regularly sang in karaoke rooms, and occasionally binged on Korean Soaps. I also visited some other countries in Asia, like China, Thailand & the Philippines.

After spending  5 years abroad, I yearned for home & I could not stop thinking about how I loved the Spanish language and always wanted to be able to teach it to others. So I attended the University of Arizona to get my credentials and started teaching the language I love in 2013. In addition to teaching Spanish, I also serve my community by helping its Latino members to learn English & integrate into US culture. When I am not teaching, I do enjoy some hobbies. When the weather is cooler, I enjoy gardening and when it gets too hot for that, I like to paint and play video games.
